It was recently reported the Kiera Knightley is proving she has brains, as well as beauty. The 22-year-old movie star is going to attend college as soon as her acting career ends. (Even though that is nowhere in sight, it’s still a valiant promise, I guess.) She was quoted to say, “Acting is a profession that isn’t going to last forever so, at some point, I will have to do something else – and that’s fine. I haven’t got a clue what it is but when I do know, I’ll go back to university, I’ll study something and I’ll become it.” Good call, Kiera.
Other congratulations go out to Carrie Underwood, who finished her college degree recently. She was 3 credits short of completing it when she auditioned and became a break-out sensation on American Idol. After putting school on hold for fame, though, she walked the ceremony at Oklahoma’s Northeastern State University. Underwood’s degree is in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism. She graduated magna cum laude.
Another recent graduate is Venus Williams. She just received her AS degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She has her own interior design company, V Starr Interiors, which specializes in residential design, and she recently launched EleVen, the largest fashion line launched by a female athlete. Now, after the studies that usually followed her around on tour, she has reached another pinnacle in her career: degree-dom!
